UIDAI has launched the mAadhaar app in this year which is a mobile application for your smartphone. You don't need to carry the physical copy of Aadhaar when you have the mAadhaar app. Aadhaar number holder can carry a soft copy of the biometrics-based identity card and other demographic details in their smartphones with this app. You need to have a registered mobile phone number to use the mAadhaar app. If the mobile number is not registered with UIDAI; you need to visit the Aadhaar enrollment center, or you can do it online also.
The mAadhaar application can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Now the app is not available for Apple iOS. Know the uses of the mAadhaar app:
Lock/unlock biometrics The mAadhaar app allows you to lock or unlock biometrics data using your phone. Once a resident enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system. Profile view The mAadhaar user can share demographics-related information with service providers using the QR code. With the mAadhaar app, users will be able to get the updated view of the profile upon completion of the update request. Aadhaar card profiles The mAadhaar app enables users to carry details of more than one Aadhaar card in the digital form. If your father, mother or any other family member has the same mobile number registered as yours with Aadhaar, you can also add his or her profile using the mAadhaar app. You can add a maximum three profiles in digital form on a particular device using this facility.
Train journey Now m-Aadhaar app can be used for the train journey. It is accepted by the Ministry of Railways as a proof of identity for travellers in any reserved class. "m- Aadhar, when shown by the passenger on his/her mobile after entering the password, should be accepted as a proof of identity for undertaking journey in any reserved class over Indian Railways," the ministry said in a statement.
